If she gets any traction, perhaps. I'm thinking of revamping her.

Glad you like him!

In regards to your suggestions, while it's true Asura is generally an "up-close-and-personal heavy hitter.", I wanted to give him ranged options and he's had an energy beam attack almost ever since I first came up with him in 2011. The name "Void Astra" is a little nod to the Hindu origins of his name, since astra were the weapons of the gods. Regarding Ichorous Corruption, its not so much meant to be something that covers his body but a passive ability that corrodes an enemy's defences as they're infected with his black ichor - essentially his eldritch blood. His main weakness is to magical attacks, not necessarily ranged attacks in general. That said, having it lower their energy regeneration/ranged damage output might be worth considering and I'll try to remember to mention it on the off chance I get Prog. Thanks for the suggestions! :D

Nekoyasha (猫夜叉)

Nekoyasha is a samurai nekomata - a two-tailed cat spirit - from feudal Japan, using her shapeshifting powers to become gigantic. She is noble and aloof, but at the same time fuelled by an instinctual lust for battle she struggles to suppress. Nekoyasha fights using a cursed katana that draws strength through bloodshed. While she maintains control over it, it seeks to corrupt her mind and turn her back into a bloodthirsty raging demon.

@CDR-Rage Maybe... but I still don't have a full-body image of him yet.

ASURA

ASURA is the spawn or offshoot of a primordial eldritch monstrosity from the Void, a dimension of darkness and chaos. Codenamed after the six-armed evil deities of Hinduism, he is covered in a dark, chitinous, biomechanical exoskeleton. Despite his bestial appearance he is sentient and intelligent, but is vicious and delights in combat and destruction. He fancies himself a god of war and seeks to become the ultimate apex predator, to which end he tests his strength against anything he comes across, showing no mercy even towards weak opponents.

Original Monster Submissions / ASCHA'VOVINA: Avatar of the Void
« on: October 24, 2015, 04:15:41 am »
Name: ASCHA'VOVINA

ASCHA'VOVINA's manifestation is an enormous abomination covered in a black and dark grey exoskeleton with chitinous spines, biomechanical-looking ridges, and metallic veins that bridge the segments in its armour. It has a large head with ten glowing red eyes; massive jaws lined with fangs; a pointed, angular chin; serrated stag beetle-like mandibles; and jagged horns protruding from the back of its head. It also possesses several large tentacle-like arms tipped with heads in place of hands. These secondary heads are fringed with large spikes, and possess five finger-like pedipalps for grabbing things. Each of its throats glows with red light. Segmented tubules extend from its shoulder armour - four tubules for each arm with two going to the elbows and two to the wrists. Jutting from its back and shoulders are numerous segmented tentacles with bladed tips. It has four primary legs, the first pair of which are digitigrade and the second pair of which are plantigrade, each tipped with several rending talons. The base of its tail is lined with centipede-like legs, forking into three long, segmented tails tipped with clawed grasping appendages. ASCHA'VOVINA possesses markings in the shape of three large symmetrical red claw marks on the tops of its heads, which glow when it charges its attacks. What these markings are is unknown: they could be sigils binding it to the Black Stone Coffin, or even possibly some form of eyespots.

Height: 150 m
Weight: 80 000 tons
Gender: None
Abilities: ASCHA'VOVINA can bite opponents with its fangs and mandibles, strike opponents with its limbs and horns, slash them with its claws, stab and whip them with its tentacles, and stomp on them. Its facsimile has multiple mouths: with its primary one on its main head and secondary ones in place of hands. Its primary mouth has powerful jaws and stag beetle-like mandibles which can bite down and stab into enemies, and it can further wreath its mandibles in eldritch energy to greatly increase their range and damage output. Its mouth-hands are lined with massive spikes, can also deal devastating bites, and have five finger-like pedipalps tipped with large, sharp claws. Its tentacles are long, segmented, prehensile, and tipped with sharp blades that can pierce even the thickest hides. Its three tails are not prehensile, but are still flexible and tipped with grasping appendages tipped with claws. It possesses four legs with clawed feet, and the base of its tail has numerous arthropod-like legs with bladed tips. However, it lacks finesse and precision with its attacks, leaving it open to evasive or opportunistic opponents. Using its main head ASCHA'VOVINA can spit powerful beams of eldritch energy, and can charge a galaxy-shaped attack between its mandibles powerful enough to level mountains. With its arm-heads, it can spit a rapid-fire barrage of eldritch energy fireballs that explode on impact; and it can fire bolts of eldritch lightning at multiple opponents from the tips of its tentacles. By focusing its power, it can create veritible hurricanes of eldritch energy that devastate the surrounding landscape.

Bio: ASCHA'VOVINA is an ancient eldritch monstrosity born from the Void. It was sealed away inside a black stone coffin by the Primordial gods, but the seal has weakened enough for it to form a rudimentary avatar. It is completely incapable of cognizant activities like thinking, communicating, strategizing, assessing threats, or recognizing traps; and is simply driven by instinctual hatred and bloodlust to destroy everything around it.

Suggestions / Re: How to make this game NOT boring
« on: October 21, 2015, 06:54:17 am »
I'm not exactly familiar with whether this has already been suggested and/or vetoed in the past, but one idea I think would encourage replayability is giving the game a single-player arcade/story mode with character-specific endings that would encourage people who are 100% completionists to play it over and over. What that arcade/story mode would be is a question for another thread, but all fighting games I've seen have at the very least a rudimentary plot to explain why the characters are fighting.

Also, while I've heard it referred to as a cheap gimmick that outlived its popularity a decade ago, one thing I've noticed is that multiple endings (whether through selectable choices or karma meters) ramp up a game's replayability. It certainly kept me playing Godzilla: Unleashed and Spider-Man: Web of Shadows for a long time. To give a fighting game example, when Skullgirls came out it was originally planned for each character to have a Good ending and a Bad ending (or in the case of some a Bad ending and a Worse ending), but that feature was scrapped to the disappointment of a lot of fans.
