App version?
« on: March 25, 2015, 07:15:42 pm »
If a game is released, would it be a good idea to make an app version of it? It would include the basic default modes only like p1 v com1, p1 v02, and etc. As well as different, shorter and stockier looks (not chino versions) for the kaiju in the official game to have in an app version.

Tell me what you think.

This is a great idea!

Also, you should've put this in the suggestions forum, but it's OK.

I actually think this would be a neat idea, since it would be cool to be able to play the game on my android and or tablet. Playing kaijus everyday and anywhere. Whether on the car, restaurant, home, and parties! Can't get enough of them kaijus lol

Exactly. This is one of the reasons I want this game to have an app version is because I love the idea of playing your favorite games anywhere you go. Of course, people always seem to make the portable version suck for some reason, but I'll make sure if there ever will be an app version that it won't suck!

I am no tech wizard but I think it is possible to port the game to android and apple since I'm not an apple user and this way you appeal to every kind of user.

If we all agree, then, we'll need to ask apple or someone who can help us make this into an app. And I also believe that we should have a community vote, to see who agrees and disagrees. And another question: Free, or Paid, if paid, then how much?

I'm not sure about prices right now. Whether it will be free or paid will be decided later.

Well as far as I know the game is being developed in flash right? You'd have to code it in another program to get it running natively on iOS or Android via a dev kit like Cocos or Unity2D. That means reprogramming the whole thing.

Most common inputs used in mobile games: Tap/Hold/Swipe/Hold+Swipe/Hold+Tap system. Tapping does a simple quick attack, optionally multiple taps can create a combo. Holding could roar after a given time and double holding can block. Swipe performs more character specific moves depending on the direction you swipe and hold+swipe performs specials. Hold+Tap is a generic heavy attack that doesn't combo as well and moves slower. Just a thought to factor into gameplay if you intend to do a mobile port. You have to consider possible inputs.

I recently found out that you actually CAN make mobile games with Flash ("Power Falls" is a great example of an app game made with Flash), but I think it requires that you code it with AS3, instead of AS2 which is what I'm familiar with.

If anything, It should be on Android, Ios, and Windows Phones (mainly because I have a Windows phone myself) but, the more diversity we have for multiple devices, the better it is for us in the long run.
